Hurricane Beryl made landfall in Texas as a Category 1 hurricane with sustained winds of 80 mph, weakening slightly to 75 mph as it sets its sights on Houston. The storm has brought damaging winds, torrential rainfall and life-threatening flash flooding to much of Texas, and more than 1 million customers are currently experiencing power outages.

The hurricane is expected to weaken to a tropical cyclone with sustained winds of 39-73 mph before crossing state lines and moving into parts of Arkansas and Louisiana early Tuesday morning, according to the National Hurricane Center. Beryl is likely to continue across the continental U.S. as a post tropical cyclone, affecting parts of Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio and Michigan on Wednesday and Thursday before moving into eastern Canada.
