A powerful line of fast-moving windstorms and thunderstorms, known as a derecho, left a path of destruction from Iowa to Indiana on Monday, downing trees, damaging buildings and causing widespread power outages.
A tornado was reported in Des Moines, Iowa, with possible tornadoes reported near Chicago O’Hare International Airport. Severe weather is expected to shift farther to the south and east starting on Tuesday.
