Industry leaders Neil Best and Liew Boon Tat join growing team of experts

SINGAPORE, 30 July 2024 – Sedgwick, a leading global provider of claims management, loss adjusting and technology-enabled business solutions, has launched a suite of solutions to address the evolving loss adjusting and claims management needs of energy and natural resources companies in the Asia Pacific region.

The specialist team will focus on handling claims and supporting emerging trends in the region’s traditional energy mix and the region’s pivot to renewable and other sustainable energy sources, such as thermal and renewable power, along with hydrogen, floating solar and wind turbines. Their capabilities also include serving traditional power plants, infrastructure and construction service providers in the energy and power sectors.

“At Sedgwick, we have the necessary expertise to help clients manage and resolve challenging claims in the complicated natural resources arena,” said Veronica Grigg, CEO of Sedgwick in Asia. “With the addition of our new specialists, we have a wealth of expert resources who can see all claims through from start to conclusion.”

The team is led by Nigel Cook, CEO of Sedgwick in Singapore and Head of Major and Complex loss for Asia. Joining him are market-leading specialists Neil Best, Director, Energy, and Liew Boon Tat, Executive Energy Adjuster, Major and Complex Loss.

“Amid the expansion of clean energy and natural resources industries in Asia, this is a pivotal time for us to offer our resources to clients and invest in long-time partnerships in the region,” Cook said. “Sedgwick’s experts thoroughly understand the complexity of this evolving space; Liew and Neil are well suited to lead our efforts.”

Best brings to Sedgwick significant experience managing construction and operational losses to floating production, storage and offloading vessels (FPSOs) and their related subsea architecture. These include single point mooring buoys, pipelines, umbilicals, risers, flowlines and mid water arch buoys. Best has handled marine in-water seismic equipment losses and claims within the renewable energy space in Myanmar, Philippines, Taiwan and Vietnam; he has also managed various onshore solar wind farm files and near-shore wind turbine generator claims to inter-array cables in Vietnam.

Boon Tat is a seasoned loss adjuster who has handled a diverse range of claim types, including property damage, machinery breakdowns, alternative energy, mining, marine, contractors’ all risks/engineering all risks (CAR/EAR), liability and catastrophic (CAT) claims. His comprehensive expertise spans various facets of insurance assessment and valuation. He has managed both onshore and offshore construction and operational losses, dealing with complex insurance claims related to marine and other types of losses. Additionally, Boon Tat has performed risk management work, including shipyard risk surveys and fire risk assessments, and has experience with third-party liability claims, renewables losses and business interruption.
